Sprog II on Mac OS X Tiger, Leopard, PPC
The Sprog II can be used on a PPC Mac running Mac OS X. As the following screenshots show, version 2.5.3 or Decoder Pro will work with JAVA 1.5.0.06. under Mac OS 10.4.11 Tiger Power PC version. The current version of JMRI, which is included on the CD supplied with the Sprog II, will not work on the PPC Mac.
More detailed information including recent versions of Mac OS X at this URL:

Note that the sprog works at 9600 baud – if you set another value, it does not work.
To get it all to work, you need the following files.
FTDIUSBSerialDriver_v2_2_10.dmg
Java comm installer 2
JMRI.2.5.3.dmgRXTX.pkg
RXTX.pkg

If you want to use a later version of Java and JMRI, the following post suggests installing Linux on your PPC Mac. I do not recommend this. The problem is that the entire machine must be given over to linux. There is no “WUBI” like method for Macintosh.
